Sénida Cueto (Seni)
Seni es licenciada en Química (especialidad en Química Orgánica) por la Universidad de Oviedo y Doctora en Ciencias Naturales por el Instituto Tecnológico Federal de Zurich (ETH). Su tesis fue dirigida por el Profesor Paul Rys y se tituló: "Propiedades eléctricas y magnéticas de arilcarboxilatos de cobre" (1993).
Es Agente de Propiedad Industrial en España (1998) y Agente Europeo de Patentes (2012) (EQE).
Cuando terminó su licenciatura en Química se trasladó a Zurich donde trabajó en la ETH en la síntesis de colorantes de tipo azo como tema de la tesina (“Diplomarbeit”), Más tarde trabajó en la preparación y caracterización de arilcarboxilatos de cobre, siempre con la dirección del Profesor Rys, como tema de trabajo del doctorado.
De vuelta en España, trabajó varios meses en el Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, en la síntesis biocatalítica de compuestos orgánicos. Después se trasladó al Departamento de Química Orgánica de la Facultad de Farmacia en la Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, para trabajar en la síntesis de benzodiazepinas como agentes anti-hipertensivos. hasta mayo de 1996.
Desde 1996 está trabajando en el área de patentes, incluyendo traducciones, redacción, tramitación, asesoramiento a clientes, etc., en alguna de las agencias más importantes de España donde también desarrolló trabajo como jefe del Departamento de Patentes en el Exterior.
Como la vida es un “no parar” de aprender, toda la experiencia adquirida tanto durante los años de “bata blanca” como los de asesora en patentes, demostró ser de lo más útil en el momento de ponerse en la piel de otro, por ejemplo, de un inventor, un lector de patentes o un examinador de una oficina de patentes.
Con toda esa experiencia llegó SP3 Patents S.L. en 2014, y desde entonces con la misma dedicación y esmero, confiamos en que el resultado de tantas horas dedicadas a aprender, escuchar, estudiar, pensar y decidir sea útil para Ud.
Raúl Martínez Herranz
Raúl es Licenciado en Biotecnología y Doctor en Biociencias Moleculares por la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Su tesis doctoral se desarrolló en el Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas y se centró en el estudio del papel del tráfico vesicular en la metástasis del melanoma. Durante su trayectoria académica he realizado estancias tanto en Irlanda como en EEUU.
Al finalizar la tesis decidió cambiar su orientación profesional hacia la propiedad industrial y para ello realizó el curso de verano de Propiedad Intelectual e Industrial organizado por la OMPI-OEPM.
Posteriormente, en 2018, se incorporó a SP3 Patents, su actividad diaria incluye la tramitación de patentes, redacción de solicitudes, elaboración de informes de patentabilidad y búsquedas de antecedentes, principalmente en el área de biotecnología, concretamente biología molecular, terapia génica, inmunología y métodos de diagnóstico.
En 2021 superó las pruebas de cualificación profesional de la OEPM, obteniendo el título de Agente de Propiedad Industrial y en la actualidad está preparando el examen de Agente Europeo de Patentes.

- Universidad de Girona, en el marco de un curso sobre propiedad industrial en el año 2001, titulada “Redacción de patentes”
- Fundación Esame en 2010 y 2011 en el marco de un curso para “especialistas en patentes biotecnológicas”, con el título “Redacción de reivindicaciones en una solicitud de patente farmacéutica o biotecnológica”
- Universidad de Alcalá de Henares dentro del marco del “Master en Química Fina”, en 2010 y 2011, titulada “Las patentes como apoyo a la investigación”
- Curso de divulgación “Los Avances de la Química y su Impacto en la Sociedad” organizado por el Dr. Bernardo Herradón, investigador del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, en su segunda y tercera ediciones en los años 2010-2011 y 2012-2013 (http://www.losavancesdelaquimica.com), titulada “Los químicos y la propiedad industrial”.
- Participación en el programa de Radio Nacional, Radio 5, titulado “A hombros de gigantes”, dedicado a la divulgación científica, el 18 de marzo de 2011.
- Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, conferencia en la Facultad de Ciencias el 21 de marzo de 2013, titulada “LA IMPORTANCIA DE LAS PATENTES EN EL PROGRESO DE LA QUÍMICA”

Seni has a degree in Chemistry (specialization in Organic Chemistry) from the University of Oviedo and she is a Doctor of Sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Zürich (ETH) with a thesis entitled "Electrical and magnetic properties of copper arylcarboxylates" (1993), carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Paul Rys.
She is an Industrial Property Agent in Spain and a European Patent Attorney (EQE).
After finishing her degree in chemistry she moved to Zürich, where she started to work on the synthesis of azo dyes as the subject of her “Diplomarbeit”, at the ETH. Later, she worked in the preparation and characterization of copper aryl carboxylates, always under the supervision of Prof. Paul Rys, as the subject of her thesis
Returning to Spain she worked for several months in the Spanish National Research Council on the biocatalytic preparation of organic compounds. Later, she worked in the Department of Organic Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, of the University of Alcala de Henares (Madrid) on the synthesis of benzodiazepines for use as anti-hypertensive agents until May 1996.
Since 1996 she has been working in patent related matters, including translation, drafting, prosecuting, and providing advice to clients in some of the most important Spanish agencies, where she also worked as head of a Patent Department.
As life is continuous learning, the experience gained during the ‘white coat’ years, as well as the later activity as patent advisor, proved to be most useful for walking in someone else's shoes, such as an inventor, a patent reader or a patent examiner.
With this background SP3 Patents, S.L. was founded in 2014, and since then, we continue to work with the same care and dedication. We trust that our experience and many hours devoted to learning, listening, studying, thinking and deciding will be useful to you.
Raúl Martínez Herranz
Raúl holds a degree in Biotechnology and a PhD in Molecular Biosciences from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. His doctoral thesis was developed at the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas and focused on the study of the role of vesicular trafficking in melanoma metastasis. During his academic career he has done internships in both, Ireland and USA.
Upon finishing his PhD, he decided to change his professional orientation towards intellectual property and for this purpose he attended the Intellectual and Industrial Property summer course organized by the WIPO-SPTO.
In 2018 he joined SP3 Patents, his daily activity includes patent prosecution, drafting applications, drafting patentability reports and performing background searches, mainly in the area of biotechnology, specifically molecular biology, gene therapy, immunology and diagnostic methods.
In 2021 he passed the professional qualification tests of the SPTO, obtaining the title of Spanish Industrial Property Agent and is currently preparing for the European Patent Attorney exam.
