In industrial property patents occupy a predominant place and move in an area that combines science and law. So when dealing with legal documents, the margins of modification are strict and therefore we are very demanding with regard to the specification that must correctly describe the invention.

We are speakers at events on chemistry and industrial property

  • University of Girona, in the framework of a course on industrial property in 2001, entitled “Patent drafting”.
  • Esame Foundation in 2010 and 2011 within the framework of a course for “biotechnological patent specialists”, with the title, “drafting claims in a pharmaceutical or biotechnological patent application.”
  • University of Alcalá de Henares within the framework of the “Master in Fine Chemistry”, from 2010 to the present, with lectures on patents as support for research, introduction to the requirements and courses of action for the protection of inventions.
  • Outreach course “Advances in Chemistry and its impact on Society” organized by Dr. Bernando Herradón, researcher at the Spanish National Research Council, in its second and third edition in the years 2010-2011 and 2012-2013 entitled “Los químicos y la propiedad industrial"
  • Participation in the program of Radio Nacional, Radio 5, entitled “A hombros de gigantes”, dedicated to scientific dissemination, on March 18, 2011.
  • University of Alcalá de Henares, lectures at the Faculty of Sciences on March 21, 2013, entitled “The importance of patents in the progress of chemistry”.

Sénida Cueto (Seni)

Seni holds a degree in Chemistry (specializing in Organic Chemistry) from the University of Oviedo and a PhD in Natural Sciences from the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH). Her doctoral thesis was supervised by Prof. Paul Rys and was entitled “Copper arylcarboxylates and their electromagnetic properties”.

He is an Industrial Property Agent in Spain (1998) and European Patent Attorney (2012) (EQE).

When he finished his degree in Chemistry he moved to Zurich. There she worked as a PhD student first on the synthesis of azo-type dyes, and later, as a PhD thesis topic, on the preparation and characterization of copper arylcarboxylates.

Back in Spain she worked for several months at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas on the biocatalytic synthesis of organic compounds. He then moved to the Department of Organic Chemistry of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Alcalá de Henares, to work on the synthesis of benzodiazepines as anti-hypertensive agents, until May 1996, when he started working on patents.

Since 1996 he has been working full time in the area of patents, in Spanish agencies until 2013 and since 2014 managing the current SP3 Patents.

Raúl Martínez Herranz

Raul has a degree in Biotechnology and a PhD in Molecular Biosciences from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. His doctoral thesis was developed at the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas and focused on the study of the role of vesicular trafficking in melanoma metastasis. During his academic career he has made stays in both Ireland and the USA.

At the end of the thesis he decided to change his professional orientation towards industrial property and for this purpose he attended the Intellectual and Industrial Property summer course organized by the WIPO-OEPM.

Subsequently, in 2018, she joined SP3 Patents, her daily activity includes patent prosecution, drafting applications, drafting patentability reports and background searches, mainly in the area of biotechnology, specifically molecular biology, gene therapy, immunology and diagnostic methods.

In 2021, he passed the OEPM professional qualification exams, obtaining the title of Industrial Property Agent, and in 2025, he became European Patent Attorney.

Lorena Mora Pineda

Lorena has a diverse background that includes document management technician, industrial engineering studies, design and editorial production and most recently has been trained in the Paralegal course at EOI, Escuela de Organización Industrial.

Lorena joined SP3 Patents in 2023 and with her diverse knowledge and constant training has acquired a background that has allowed her in a few months to be able to assist in the organization of all the administrative work and the processing of files with the criteria of a professional trained for years. Her essential collaboration includes invoicing, due date control, handling correspondence, filing documents with the Patent Office and taking initiatives for the general improvement of everyone’s performance.
